介護や医療現場の問題解決に取り組んでいる下村明司さん。病院や高齢者施設では、転倒による骨折が課題となっています。そこで下村さんは、以前、バイクメーカーに勤務していた際に研究開発していた、衝突時のショックを和らげる技術を、高齢者の骨折防止に生かせないかと考え、転倒時の衝撃を吸収する床とマットを開発。今後は、床にセンサーを設置し、転倒の原因を解明できる機能を開発したいと語る下村さんの思い描く未来とは？

Mr. Hiroshi Shimomura is working to solve problems in the nursing and medical workplace. In hospitals and elderly care facilities, bone fractures caused by falls are a major issue. Mr. Shimomura wondered if the technology he had researched and developed while working for a motorcycle manufacturer to reduce the shock of a collision could be used to prevent bone fractures like these among the elderly, and developed floors and mats that absorb the impact of a fall. Mr. Shimomura says he wants to install sensors in the floor with a function that can identify the cause of falls next. What kind of future does he envision?
